Milton AFC 10-1 Kennoway United
A real squad display from Milton today as every member of the named team and subs played their part. Milton were up for it from the first whistle. Henderson went close a few times as did Watt but bad luck and good goalkeeping kept the scoreline blank.
It seemed a matter of time before Milton scored and it duly came from Watt when he headed home a Mitchell cross. The floodgates opened and Henderson hit home a penalty after Watt was brought down in the box. Just before halftime Watt scored his second when he beat the offside trap and put Milton in easy Street.
The second half was one way traffic, Henderson hit home number 4 after good play from Murphy. Then Mitchell set up Murphy who scored the 5th.Watt scored number 6 for his hat trick.Henderson got his hat trick after good play from Harris. Rodger got in on the act with number 8.
Milton were rampant now and McLaughlin first set up Shaddick for number 9. The the same player put Murphy through for his second and Milton’s 10th goal. A really comprehensive performance from the locals.
Milton 2001 2-0 Stirling City
U17s Regional Cup
After a convincing league win v Dunblane City last week, the 2001’s had a tough home draw against much improved local rivals Stirling City on Saturday.
Straight from the first whistle though, there was no complacency in the Milton ranks and after a dominant display, the lads went into halftime with a 2 goal lead, (through Horsburgh & Cairney). The second half was more of the same but with chances being passed up in front of goal, Stirling City were always in the game.
A convincing win in the end though and next up for Milton is an away league fixture against Championship rivals Cumbernauld Colts.
- Today’s games were really tough for the guys. We never showed anywhere near enough effort in any of the games.
- The team today get a mixed review. They struggled with their positions in the first two games so for the third and fourth they played to a set position and it worked better. Mixed amount of effort from each individual and need to realise that if they lose the ball to not give up and work back as a team to win it and prevent the opposition from scoring. The kids just need to relax and not panic when they receive the ball and they will do much better, this was shown in the last game with some good play at times which lead us to a few goals and feel unlucky to not have won the game. Thanks for your efforts!
- 11-12 Team: Ruadhri came into the side & was fantastic throughout, as were all the boys. Some of the goals on show were as good as seen! Max & Harry scored 2 identical goals where they picking it up off the goalie then running through the other team beating everyone then slotting it in with the white band (weaker foot). 4 wins, 4 great performances, 4 weeks left.
- The team gave 100% and that’s all that can be asked of them. Due to the players’ hard work, they got the results they deserved and got 4 wins out of 4, with playing some real good football along the way. The effort on display couldn’t be faulted.
Milton 2011s trained this morning and had about 22 in attendance. A good morning spent practicing passing, ball control and a wee game at the end. The kids are coming along great.
