Club results roundup – 30 Sep & 1 Oct

Milton AFC 6-4 Victoria Croftfoot

After a disastrous, error-strewn first half we were 3-0 down after 27min which soon became 4-0 right after half time. Showing tremendous character & heart the boys never game up despite being 4 down with 25min left. Goals from Craig Watt (3) Craig Gardner (2) & an own goal showed what cup football is all about! Well done lads.

Milton Under 21s 3-1 Campsie

Milton Under 21s march on to round 3 of the Scottish Cup after a convincing 3-1 win over a strong Campsie side. Excellent all round performance today.

Milton 2001 6-6 Camelon

What a crazy game! Milton started off very slowly and well off their usual pace. Within 20 minutes Camelon were 3-0 up. The lads rolled their sleeves up, dug deep and starting playing football. What a comeback. A well taken goal from Dylan Horsburgh, a brace from Danny McDade and then a converted penalty from Daniel Tilley gave Milton a 4-3 lead at half time.

The second half saw Daniel Tilley and Lewis Kilgannon get a goal apiece. However, a shortage of fit players, too many injuries during the game and a couple of defensive errors allowed Camelon – with a last minute penalty for Camelon securing them a point in an unbelievable 6 – 6 draw. None of us will ever forget this game that’s for sure. Disappointed is an understatement, but that’s football.

Got to give credit to lads for great effort but mistakes happen. Well done for putting up a tremendous fight Milton, we’re still undefeated in the league this season.
Milton scorers: Horsburgh, McDade (2), Tilley (2) & Kilgannon.

Milton 2003 Reds 2-2p Cumbernauld Colts

After a good start by Milton, we fell behind 0-1 and had to fight hard to get back to 1-1, scoring from a well worked corner. We made it 1-2 soon after the equaliser before Cumbernauld pulled it back from the penalty spot to make it 2-2 before the end of the 1st half.

It stayed liked this through the 2nd half and extra time. Milton controlled play for large spells of the game made a number of very good chances to win the but couldn’t find a winner in normal time or extra time.

Cumbernauld Colts edged it in the penalty shoot out 4-3. Credit to the players who stepped up to take penalties and good luck to Cumbernauld Colts in the next round of the league cup.

Milton 2004 4-0 Carbrain

A good solid performance from Milton 2004 today at Bannockburn High School, giving them their first league win of the season against difficult opponents Carbrain Boys Club. Milton did not allow their opponents room or time to play and it was no surprise when Milton went one up midway through the first half – Marc K with an inch perfect corner and Jamie L was there to head high into the net. 1-0 half time.

The second half saw more of the same for Milton with Jamie L scoring from inside the box, after great work down the right hand side by Keir E. Milton were now comfortable and playing some good passing football which resulted in Keir E getting himself a goal when he rolled the defender on the edge of the box and hit the back of the net with his shot.

Milton kept pushing Carbrain back, who were now defending on their 18 yard line for long periods. It was no surprise when Milton added a fourth goal when Iain M placed a side-footed shot into the left hand corner of the Carbrain goal from the edge of the box.

There were a lot of good individual performances today. Marc K totally bossed the midfield, Gregor M was solid at the back and Jamie L kept up his impressive scoring run going since joining us a couple of weeks ago. Most importantly it was an excellent TEAM performance – keep it going lads.
